Why We Build
Our belief holds firm: community-owned, Internet Native Organizations are the ultimate promise of web3 decentralization.
Last week we witnessed yet another monumental moment in crypto history – but this moment does not represent the whole of web3.
Centralized exchanges should – as we all should – be accountable to the people and communities that generate their value. The collapse of FTX principally showcases the consequences of opaque centralization, and the great cost of bad actors with little to no community accountability.
We couldn’t be more philosophically separated from these bad actors, despite our shared pursuit/development of blockchain use cases. Whether you call them DAOs, tokenized communities, or metalabels – our belief holds firm: community-owned, Internet Native Organizations are the ultimate promise of web3 decentralization.
We’re in the midst of our 5th Accelerator cohort, and from where we sit, the future of web3 remains bright. The 16 projects of SC05 demonstrate what’s possible when smart, determined people gather to build with community as an unwavering first principle. We’ve seen this determination across every Seed Club cohort, and we anticipate this continuing to grow with every future cohort. We’re building for the long term.
To the web3 community builders, do not let this latest crash deter you. As the tides of innovation rise and fall, an evergreen truth remains: building in a space with limited doctrines is nonlinear. Consider this a moment of nonlinearity. While the challenges ahead of us are great, the opportunity is too historic for us to waver in our resolve.
This is a moment to double down on the adventure of building enduring community-owned networks. We build for democratized ownership in the networks that historically have been centrally controlled. We build together for the pursuit of a brighter future.
